I have to agree that being a doctor on
Stargate Atlantis is not healthy.

The next character on the chopping block? Dr. Elizabeth Weir, who, according to executive producer of
Atlantis Brad Wright, "will be back for some period of time ... as a recurring character."
Just what do the people over at
Stargate have against their doctors?
When Torri Higginson warned that there would be developments in the latter half of season three that would "set the Internet on fire," she sure wasn't kidding.
Let me just say that Elizabeth Weir is of the most popular and most loved characters on the show. She is much more than just the leader of
Atlantis—she is the center and the soul of
Atlantis; she sets the moral compass of the show. She is the perfect counterpart to all the military personnel on the show.
Elizabeth Weir is a role model and an inspiration to young girls/women everywhere. To see a female character in such an important position while exercising considerable power and influence with grace and wisdom is extremely rare on TV these days. So why relegate her to recurring status? It absolutely makes no sense.
Torri Higginson has always been loyal to the show, passionate about her character and unbelievably gracious with her fans. And this is the way she is rewarded? How horrible!
If The Powers That Be want to save their show, stop turning
Stargate Atlantis into
Atlantis SG-1.
