Welcome Elizabeth Weir fans!!!!
Written by Suz's - Saturday, 23 June 07
Welcome to everyone who is visiting this site for the first time!
If you've just finished watching First Strike you'll know that Elizabeth Weir was severely injured at the end of the episode. Her future in Atlantis is in jeopardy. Torri was given a choice at the end of Season 3 by the creators of the show. She could either stay and play a reduced role or be done. She could have left the show completely. She didn't. She chose to fulfill her commitment to this character, to the show and to her fans. Joe Mallozzi has confirmed that Elizabeth Weir is going to be in only 4 episodes of season 4 and is going to be replaced by Lt. Col. Samantha Carter from Stargate SG-1
We formed this campaign months ago in order to express our disappointment in losing the leader of Atlantis. Our goal is to bring Torri Higginson back to Atlantis FULL TIME.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! You CAN make a difference! There are many ways you can show your support for this character and the actor who portrays her. One of the most important ways you can show your support is to make your voice heard. Write letters, send e-mails, post in the online forums. All addresses & e-mails can be found on this website under the "address" tab. Please note that this is a fan run campaign. We are not affiliated with Torri Higginson nor any of the entities that produce or air Stargate Altantis.
Thank you for your support!

Bad news for Weir fans: "I can't make people feel better who just love Torri and Dr. Weir and want to see her on the show," sighs [Robert C] Cooper. "Unfortunately, that's just not going to happen. All I can say is that Sam Carter is a wonderful character, and Amanda Tapping is a wonderful actress, and I think she will fill the role of Atlantis admirably. I'm excited about seeing the evolution of her character. Brad and I created the character Dr. Weir and we love the character and Torri, but the change needed to be made."Following the SciFi press release, the television critic brought some facts and questions for Season Four of Stargate Atlantis. Although Amanda Tapping's move grabs the headline, Torri and other cast changes are notably mentioned throughout.
The main quote regarding Torri in the article:
Torri Higginson, who plays Elizabeth Weir, the head of the “Stargate Atlantis” mission, will be a recurring character in Season 4, executive producer Joseph Mallozzi said in a phone interview from the show’s Vancouver set. Mallozzi couldn’t say for sure how many fourth-season episodes Higginson would be in; that number is in “a state of flux,” he said.
It was mentioned in the article (as well as in Joe Mallozzi's blog) that the author tried to clarify points and get more information from Mallozzi about the rumors, but he neglected to clarify. His reasoning was understandable though:
Unfortunately, I find myself in a bit of a bind. While news is already out regarding certain aspects of the show's fourth season, the back half of the third season has yet to air - on SciFi - and so, I find myself having to walk a fine line - clarifying points that have already become public knowledge while avoiding direct commentary on major developments from episodes that have yet to air. On SciFi. (from Mallozzi's blog)
One final quote from the article:
[Mallozzi] On fan reactions to the upcoming season of “Atlantis”: I think fans are needlessly worried. They read spoilers and get upset [before they see the episodes]. The heartache and the anger – fans would save themselves a lot of that if they would wait and watch the episodes. I’m sure they are already starting their letter-writing campaigns. But in our case, to be brutally honest, they don’t really have an impact on creative decisions.”
Instead of discouragement, I find this fuels the need to write even more. With enough activity on our part, someone's got to take notice.
