Top 10 Reasons Why I love Elizabeth Week By: Southern Red heart: love for her city and her people soul: provides a calm center around which the city rotates strength: waited 10.000 years to save her city and her people compassion: took refugees, cared for strangers, wept over losses bravery: faced the enemy to save her city and her people with no regard for her own life love: words of comfort at the beside of a friend, words of reassurance for a friend who had no hope loyalty: always put the needs of the expedition above her own dertermination: did whatever necessary to provide for her people in the face of overwhelming odds leadership: carefully considered the opinions of experts under her charge, made a decision and stood by it humor: allowed others to find moments of enjoyments in the face of danger, set the example by always maintaining her sense of humor
Anuna wisdom: she knows words are stronger than weapons kindness: she gives everyone a chance compassion: she tries to understand everyone's point of view and emotions she isn't perfect: and that makes her real and even more admirable in my eyes she takes responsibility: for all her decisions, despite how things turned out, and that takes a LOT of courage courage: no sacrifice is too great when it comes to Atlantis and people she leads she isn't afraid to ask for help: and that doesn't make her weak, but wise femininity: everything about her is feminine, yet she is not stereotypical weak female character and that makes her an amazing role model for every woman out there selflessness: other people, their needs and leadership responsibilities come in first place brains: she is smart, educated and shows us the best woman and a leader can be
Alexandra integrity - she never changes her opinion because it suits the situation or because it would be in her favour; she sticks to her principles and even if she has to make compromises she doesn't take them lightly. honesty decency morality non-interference when it comes to other people's jobs - e.g. she never told Rodney how to run his job; she asks for things to be done, but doesn't demand that they be done according to her wish. I also like a lot the fact that she kept her humanity so intact in a diplomatic world. She cares about people and truth rather than personal interests. That falls under humanity and selflessness, which you mentioned before. She's doesn't put her feet in the desk, she says 'senile' and 'gentlemen', instead of 'nuts' and 'guys' (I mentioned that before); to me that's a lot because I think that this is not only the result of imposed education it is also the result of a delicate spirit. I don't think she does it just to keep her position and respect as the leader, she simply doesn it because she feels it, like anything else she does. I think that there are people that do things, like talk and behave nice, because they want others to have a good opinion about them, but there are others that do it because this is how they feel and it makes them feel good with themselves, it shows respect for their humanity and for others. And this is how I see her, more evolved somehow, on a slightly higher plane, spiritually. She's interested in ascension and in the good part of people that can be brought to light. So I'd say that and other things she does make me think she's an optimist. Most of all I like the strength of her character, how she believes in good things, how she keeps her principles and yet after all the fight she never gives up her humanity.
SMB Books She looks GREAT in red! Her incredible facial expressions, raised eyebrow, anyone? She is a strong female leader in a sea of testosterone She is not ashamed of being intelligent She surrounds herself with intelligent people and facilitates an environment where they can use their talents to succeed = TRUE LEADER! She holds people accountable and challenges them to go beyond their self-imposed limits She makes tough decisions; keeping in mind the impact those decisions will have on others Despite all the odds, obstacles, challenges and setbacks, she has never given up She would go (and has gone) to the end of the galaxy and beyond to support and defend her team She gave herself up to save Atlantis and to save the expedition and deserves to reside in her rightful home and with her team
Vixen She's an educated, intelligent woman with a rich knowledge and experience in international diplomacy. She was given the trust of world leaders to lead an international expedition to another galaxy. She respects other cultures Her femininity She has earned the trust and respect of everyone on the expedition Her determination and understanding Her imperfections make her perfect She has sacrificed herself for the safety of the city She takes responsibility for her actions, fights for her people and has great faith in them Her smile Her sense of humor
Borgprincess Because she is strong, but knows that doesn't mean she always has to shout the loudest or have the last word or get her own way. I think that strength is when you can concede someone else's point without it diminishing you. And when you can accept the unfair and the unjust without losing your focus on what's important. Because she doesn't hold grudges- this follows on from the last point. She's been overruled by the military a few times, but works to promote understanding and co-operation and to achieve their objective without giving in to the urge to be nasty or undermine them. Because she's diplomatic- she doesn't have to constantly assert her authority over people and insist she's the big bad boss. She can compromise on an issue to make sure the best outcome for everyone all round, rather than take an extreme stance to soothe her ego. She's calm in the face of massive egos, raging testosterone and unpleasant personality conflicts. We don't often get to see it,except in rare cases like that season 1 ep where she had the scientists and the military and Kavanaugh in one room, and had to keep the peace between the various factions. Now that requires extreme patience and selflessness. On the other hand, she's not a push-over. Sometimes she's most effective when under ridiculous levels of stress; eg. when she dealt bound and blind-folded with the Genii, who once tried to kill her, and walked away with her mission accomplished. Also when she had the guts to dismiss the IOA paper-pushers rather than bow to their false sense of superiority. They threatened to fire her and she still stood up to them, instead of sucking up. And of course, Real World. In spite of all the evidence and the relentless mindfrelling, she refused to accept the fake reality and made her way back to real life. Because she's such a caring person and not at all self-absorbed. She barely knew the expedition team and hadn't spent much time on Atlantis, but because it would save lives and ensure a better future for 'her' people, she gave up 10,000 years of her life to keep the city safe for the alternate expedition team. Because I'm shallow, and I think she is absolutely gorgeous. I track her hairstyle changes with enthusiasm, and the season 3 loose curls are my favorite. Eg. Progeny and The Return. Also, my favorite color's red, and I can't remember if I like her for liking red, or if I like red because of her. Because she has strong morals and integrity. I remember Ford suggesting they take the ZPM from the planet with the kids, and she firmly negated that idea. Even if it's to save herself, she won't sanction anything that would do harm to others. Because she makes me laugh at the tiniest quips. Just a quirk of the eyebrow or change of tone amuses me. For instance, when McKay was describing how he knew his pet whale, Sam, was a male because of the protruding- 'Oh, that's okay, I'll take your word for it'. Adorable! Because she's not afraid to face danger to help others. She's all about compassion for those in need, and doing what it takes to aid them. I mean, here's a diplomat going on a mission to save O'Neill and Woolsey in a city crawling with Asurans. Vastly outnumbered and outgunned, but she goes, regardless of the risk to herself, because she and the few others on the team are the only hope of rescuing O'Neill, Woolsey and the city.
Caldwell's 2IC
She is the kind of woman I'd like to be. She is more than a pretty face. - She speaks a handful of earth languages and she can read ancient as well; she can handle the president, generals, other military officers, diplomats, doctors, scientists and even aliens ( asgard, genii, athosians ) easily.
She is brave and courageous. - Elizabeth has put her life on the line more than once while fighting for her people and for Atlantis. She is charming. - Men follow her around, women like her and she’s so natural about it. She treats all the people in her staff as equals. - I love the way she calls everyone by their first name, no matter if they are military, scientists or whatever. She fights for what she wants. - She wanted John Sheppard in the Atlantis expedition and she got him. Later, she wanted Sheppard to be the military commander of the city…and then again she got away with it…with a promotion for Sheppard as well. She believes in her friends. - When Carson was afraid of the ancient control chair, she gave him confidence to use his ancient gene to control it. She's a great leader and she's not afraid of doing what needs to be done. - She sent Caldwell on a suicide mission ( “No man’s land” ) and when he realized what she was asking…he took his crew and damaged ship right into battle without asking questions. She understands Jack O'Neill!. - When she speaks to him, you can notice they respect each other; and she isn’t fooled by his “dumb act” She's so cool! - Elizabeth walks around the place with that plain red shirt and she somehow looks like a top model in a fashion show !
Falcon Horus Heart of Atlantis -> I don't think this needs an explanation, does it. The city is hers and no one else's. Beautiful woman -> not being shallow at all, since this the truth and nothing but the truth. Elizabeth is a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. Determined-> everything she does, she sees it through to the end. Strong-willed A leader -> She has all the qualities to be the perfect leader. Even her flaws make her leader-material. Her whole character just emits "I am leader of this expedition and I will do everything in my power to keep my people save whatever it takes". Death-stare-> Dudes, she has that stare down to a T. It has happened even I shrink away when she displays it. Compassionate Her sense of humor -> we may not have seen it much but I'm pretty sure this woman has a great sense of humor, otherwise I don't think she could have held on for as long as she has. Friendly -> she knows when to leave the leadership at home and just be the friend in need. A hero -> Every single member of the expedition is a hero for stepping through that gate and going to a place from wher there might not be a way home. They risk their lives every day.
Suzotchka She's intelligent She's beautiful - inside and out She respects people and her team She never gives up She makes a decision and then stands by it. She takes responsibility for her decisions She's the soul of Atlantis - it's moral compass She loves John Sheppard!! Courage - she is willing to sacrifice herself for Atlantis She's a great leader She's the kind of person I wish I could be
mcbarr She's a breath of fresh air to science fiction because she is different from other female leaders (being civilian and so forth); She has this very special symbiotic relationship with Atlantis. Without her there, what's the point? She's the natural leader and a terricfic boss; She's fallible, thus believable; Her mere presence makes other characters less annoying; She keeps the expedition running smoothly despite terrible odds; She's a very funny and charming lady; =p She doesn't leave her people behind (and it's just cruel to do that to her); Her fans are the best crowd in two galaxies; She's willing to sacrifce herself for Atlantis and her people, having done so serveral times already
Irish Eyes She wants to make the universe a better place by negotiating with words, not weapons She is caring - other's needs always come first She is intelligent - she makes the best decision she can base on what she knows and what her senior staff advises She also has a thirst for more knowledge - she knows there's always more to learn Her leadership has won her the respect of the residents of Atlantis as well as some of the enemies in the city She sticks up for what she believes She gives people a chance to prove themselves instead of writing them off based on something in their past She is determined - she's going to do what she thinks is best for the city, no matter the peronal cost She doesn't take the easy way out - no matter how difficult the task Her good hear shines through her eyes - "The eyes are the window to the soul"
Lissa She's a sensible and conservative dresser. ( I love you anyway, Teyla!) She's a sensible, tolerant, and tactful person. She's opposed to war, but understands when it's necessary. She's not arrogant or conceited. ( I love you anyway, Rodney!) She's dedicated to her work, perhaps a little to much. :( She's always willing to listen to others. She's brave, willing to risk herself for the good of her people. She's a strong woman, never acting the damsel in distress. She's a great leader, the one who holds Atlantis togerther. She truly loves Atlantis. What more can you ask for?
